How to Make Everyone Happy

One question that often comes up when discussing planning a wedding with couples is "How do we make everyone happy". First lets start by saying trying to make everyone involved in your wedding happy will be close to impossible. By beginning your planning by starting with this premise your wedding planning will be made easier.

Once you are engaged it is important to sit down as a couple and discuss exactly what each of you invision for your wedding day. This should include an extensive conversation between the two of you including your budget (exactly what the two of you are willing to spend in out of pocket funds), number of guests who will be invited to the big day and the components of your wedding day that are important to you. This is the time to start compromising for the rest of your life together. Take your partners view into serious consideration and try to work together to come up with a wedding plan that will work for both of you. It amazes me how many couples get engaged and never have this conversation. One person and it is normally the bride just starts running with the planning until one day it becomes obvious to the groom that he is getting involved in an event that was not exactly what he had in mind...talk and talk now!!!

Next get together with each of your parents. Don't bring all the parents together for one meeting. Make sure to have parents over or out for dinner separately so they are comforable with expressing their views. Let them know what you have decided as a couple you are planning for your wedding day. Do this soon after you are engaged. At this time ask parents their views on your vision. Now is the time to compromise with parents. One of the biggest issues will be number of people invited to the wedding. Parents may want to invite guests you never imagined at your wedding. Now is the time to discuss the number of guests you would like to keep the invitiation list to. It will cause less grief later. Parents will often let you know at this time what they are willing to financially help you out with. Consider this is the rest of your wedding planning budget.

Finally many in your wedding party will have their vision of what your wedding day should be like. Remember especially when chosing dresses that this is one area that the bride should consider her attendants opinions. You don't want a group of unhappy ladies standing up for you because you made them wear a purple dress with pink polka dots that is your favorite colour but look horrible on everyone in your wedding party. Brides make some compromises here and make sure your bridesmaids all feel comfortable and are happy with their dresses. One great way of doing this is by choosing a colour and let the bride choose the style that best suits her figure.

Finally remember that this is one day for is the start of the rest of your life together. How you get through this wedding planning stage will likely have a direct impact on how you get through other milestones in your life together. Beginning to work together as a couple will have a beneficial effect on your relationship for many years to come...happy planning and remember the easist way to plan your wedding together is at the Wedding Extravaganza '09 Show at the Caboto Club of Windsor on Saturday January 17th and Sunday Janaury 18th. This is a great place to bring your parents along so they feel part of your big day!!
